In Honor of Frank

At Rumored, we often talk about the moments our clothes are made for: the celebrations, the holidays, the little moments everyday that become the ones we remember. But behind every moment are the people who make our lives what they are. The ones who shape us, make us laugh, teach us something, and leave a mark that stays long after they’re gone.

My triplet brother Frank was the star of every special moment of my life for 26 years. He called me almost every day, often laughing before he could get the story out. He was bold and hilarious. He loved fashion, dressed entirely his own way, and insisted that “it’s the shoe that matters most.” When I started Rumored, he was one of my biggest (and loudest) supporters.

Four years ago this October, Frank died from a fentanyl overdose. It was 16 days after I got engaged and a month before our 27th birthday. Losing him felt like losing half of my soul.

This October, during Substance Use and Misuse Prevention Month, I’m proud to launch a giving initiative in Frank’s honor. With every Rumored order, we’ll donate 1% to organizations working to support people and families affected by substance use. Through our partnership with Beam, customers can choose at checkout which organization receives Rumored’s donation, at no additional cost to them.

Alumni in Recovery brings people with lived experience into schools to share their stories and have honest conversations about addiction. The Black Poster Project honors people lost to substance use by sharing their faces and stories, reminding us that every person is so much more than the circumstances of their death. My mom works closely with both organizations, and their work means a great deal to our family. We’re proud to help support what they do and the conversations they make possible.

This initiative is one small way for us to honor Frank, share his story and hopefully help support others who are navigating addiction, recovery, and loss.

If this story feels familiar to you, I hope you know you’re not alone. And if you’ve lost someone, I hope you feel welcome to remember them here, in all the ways they deserve to be remembered.

Until we meet again, Frank. Boy, do I have stories for you.

With love,
Dacey
